March "Adventure of the Month"

So after February physically kicked my butt with the flu, I had two new adventures to look forward to this month. The first one, put together by my awesome friend Sarah, with some of the girls from one of my running clubs, was to try a pole dancing class. Now before you judge (moms-on-poles what??!!) this was a legitimate work-out complete with warm ups, stretching and a total butt kicking! Here I was thinking, I got this, I work out, I have nice arm muscles, a strong core...NOT! It is completely safe to say I have no future in this "sport" or "line of work". This is what I can tell  you..we laughed..alot, and definitely worked some muscles because most of us had a hard time moving the next day (try explaining to your boss why you are walking that way!)  Total blast, and that my friends,  is what it is all about!

Adventure #2 for the month is what I call date night redefined... My husband is on the same page with me in coming to the realization that an "active life = happy life". We have been trying to include more date nights into our  lives recently, but just getting so bored with the usual dinner date. For months we have been trying to get to Island Rock http://www.islandrock.net/ in Plainview, NY. With babysitter booked we headed over to the gym where we were handed our harnesses and took the mandatory one hour class to learn how to climb and belay. After we did our mandatory two-turn training, we were able to go off on our own. Let me tell you...this was the MOST challenging thing I have done to date. The strength needed, the thinking, and the fear all wrapped into one, pretty much kicked my butt, and it was AWESOME!! As a date night it scored big points too because it forced us to communicate, work together, laugh, cry (ok that was me) leaving us already planning our next adventure back. The forty pound burrito we ate after was an extra bonus!
