February "Adventure of the Month"

Ok, so the beginning of February hit me like a ton of bricks. The flu came and pretty much made me a pile of sick, feverish, muscle wasting, booger-laden mess. No physical adventure of the month took place unless you count lifting my thermometer to my mouth, however when getting ready to write this I did realize I did try something new. I have always had a creative side, but between the two kids, work, and training, trying to find my inner Picasso is few and far between. We recently (finally) finished painting two walls which now left me looking for art to fill them. I am extremely indecisive when it comes to many areas of my life, and after 62 trips to Home Goods, Target, Pier One, I still could not find anything that lights my fire. Well, let me rephrase that, of course when I did, it came with that $200 + price tag that I can hear my husband yelling from his office desk 30 miles away. So I figured why not create my own canvas art? I had already made three unique pieces using an aluminium technique that decorate my dining room walls, and knowing that I did them always excites me when I look at that wall or someone compliments me on them. Off to the nearest Michaels craft store I ran and scooped up a set of acrylics, tools and a blank canvas. Ok, so I have no formal training, but WHO CARES!! I mixed, brushed, scraped, and had a blast playing with the different acrylic mediums while the kids had their own paint fun next to me. We all displayed our "masterpieces" and feeling of calm came over me, finally letting some more of those creative juices flowing. While that was just a "practice" run experimenting with the acrylics I feel confident enough to go back and start working on my art for my hallway and can not wait to get started!

  2. It totally is, when us busy gals can fit it in, but thats also the point, we have to make sure we fit these types of things in, it makes our lives more whole!
